The Communications Alliance has commissioned a study into the challenge Australia will face as it begins IPv6 adoption.
Telco consultancy firm Market Clarity will undertake a comprehensive study into Australia's readiness to adopt IPv6, to help determine what obstacles exist and what steps must be taken.
The communications industry lobby group has conceived the study as part of its plans to provide assistance in the transition process.
Spokespeople for the Alliance said that the industry is in a perfect position to provide this assistance.
The Alliance expects that the transition to IPv6 will generate complex challenges for service providers, equipment and application vendors as well as customers.
